FRESHER FOR LONGER Beeswax Wrap Rolls

When it comes to dishwashing, bar soap is often overlooked in favour of its liquid counterpart. However, there are several reasons why a bar soap is actually better than liquid dish soap.

First, bar soaps are more concentrated than liquids, so you need less of it to get the job done. This means that a bar of soap will last you longer than a bottle of liquid dish soap.

Another advantage of bar soap is that it doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances. Liquid dish soaps can often be harsh on your skin and leave behind an unpleasant scent. Bar soaps, on the other hand, are gentle and have a natural scent that won’t linger on your hands after washing dishes.

To use bar soap to wash dishes, wet your dishcloth, sponge or brush and rub it directly on the bar of soap until it’s lathered up. Then, wash your dishes as usual. Rinse them well, let them air dry or dry them with a clean towel.

SQUEEKY CLEAN Kitchen Bar

I've always had coffee/tea stains in my reusable bottles because I drink alot of coffee and tea. Alot. And I find the stains so hard to remove unless I use harsh chemicals and lots of scrubbing. 

Imagine my excitment when I found this magical cleaning potion, I call it, because it bubbles oxygen to clean all that grime without me flexing my muscles. And it's not just the coffee/tea stains in my bottles!
In the kitchen, clean and deodorise your fridge gaskets, bins, sinks and even utensils and chopping boards.
In laundry, use to pre-soak and add to your wash load to help remove stubborn fabric stains, keep whites whiter and colors brighter. 
In the bathroom, use it to clean toilet bowls, shower curtains, tiles and grout.
It is what you'd use to clean your mouthguards and gentle enough for cleaning mentrual cups and diapers.

This magical cleaning powder is most effective when mixed and used in warm to hot solutions (37 to 65 C). Dissolve and watch the oxygen bubbles do their work.

For General Cleaning:
To 1L of warm/hot water, add 2tbsp for general cleaning, 4tbsp for heavy cleaning,  1-4tbsp for a soak solution.
Mix 2-4tbsp with enough water to make a paste.
Use for cleaning in the kitchen, bathroom & also in laundry.

For Laundry:
Pre-soak / whitening
- Spot stains :  Make a paste & apply on stain for 15min
- Moderate stains : 1tbsp to 1L of hot water & soak 30min
- Tough stains : 2tbsp to 1L of hot water & soak for 1hr
To each 4-5kg wash load, add 2tbsp for light stains, 4tbsp for moderate stains & 8tbsp for tough stains

Things to note:
Do not use on silk, wool or leather.
Always spot test on inconspicuous areas first.
Safe to use but take precautions as with other cleaning products.

LET IT BUBBLE Oxygen Bleach

Makeup wipes + cotton pads are commonplace in the market but options like reusable makeup remover towels have not gone unnoticed. 

The name says it all. Just use warm water to wipe away sunscreen, foundation, concealer, lipstick, eyeliner, mascara... and yes, even waterproof ones. I had to try it. And whoa... it works!!

Each towel lasts 1000 washes, contributing to less waste and its wallet friendly! Are you calculating yet?
1000 washes is approximately 3 years if its washed daily.
That's 6 bottles of makeup remover solutions and a whole tonne of cotton pads which btw, are not eco-friendly at all.

The production of cotton itself requires a lot of water and pesticides, which can have negative environmental impacts. Additionally, most cotton pads are not biodegradable and end up in landfills, where they can take a long time to break down and release harmful chemicals into the environment.

I don't know about you, but it takes me 3-4 cotton pads each time, plus the makeup remover solutions. If I had to pay for makeup remover solutions, it should work the first or at least the second time. And if it doesn't, I might as well just use water on my makeup remover towel? 

Plus I don't have to bring liquids when I travel anymore! Yes!! Wash your makeup remover towel before your first use.

Wet the makeup remover towel with warm water. If warm water is not available, cool water will work as well - it may just take more wipes and more patience! TIP: You can wet just the area which you will be using. 

Both sides will work! Wipe off makeup in a circular motion using the side with shorter strands and use the side with longer strands as washcloth to scrub and exfoliate face. For waterproof makeup, gently press and hold over the area and wipe in small circles for best results.

To wash, simply throw it into a laundry bag and into the washing machine. If you prefer, you can always handwash. Use soap to pre-soak or spot clean stubborn stains if necessary. Wash at least once a week.

JUST USE WATER Makeup Remover Towel

Ghar soap aka Aleppo soap is a product of Syria. It uses an ancient formulation that dates back over a thousand years ago and is possibly one of the oldest soaps in the world. This soap is produced manually and take up to a year to complete.

It is a handmade, hard bar soap as shown by its rustic 'ugly' brown surface, uneven edges, corner grid marks and off-center branding. Cut this soap down the middle to reveal a beautiful jade-green colour. No two soaps are alike!

Soothing, moisturising, hypoallergenic - this is the only soap you'll need. 
Use daily as a hand/body wash, shampoo, facial cleanser, shaving cream, toothpaste, dishwashing soap and even for laundry. This serial multi-tasker is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and can be used by all ages (including babies and infants!) and skin types.

Each bar is made out of olive oil and lye, and it is distinguished by the inclusion of laurel oil. 

Olive oil contains valuable antioxidants, helps restore your skin’s natural balance, has anti-inflammatory properties and is usually well tolerated even by the most sensitive skin types. Menstrual cups are so good, its life changing.

I started by journey using pads like everyone else and constantly worried about whether I stained my school uniform whenever i stood up (that gushing feeling... I'm sure you know what I'm taking about). Not long after, I switched to using tampons. They were much better but so very expensive and difficult to use especially on low-flow days. When I came across menstrual cups, I knew and was very determined to make the switch. Lo and behold... its now 6 years into my menstrual cup journey and I love it. I'm a huge advocate so let me tell you more.

Each pad is made out of about 90% plastic and contain as much as four supermarket bags. Tampons are no better and we all heard of the possibility of toxic shock syndrome. They both come individually wrapped with plastic wrappings and are single-use. 

The average woman is estimated to use and throw away more than 10,000 of these in her menstrual lifetime. Don’t even get me started on pesticides found in cotton and the amount of water used in its production - not as eco-friendly as most of us think.

Don't sweat it! It may take some time to get comfortable with the process. Give yourself time to practice.

Our preferred folds:
Punch down fold, 7-fold, C-fold

Inserting:
Fold cup into preferred shape. Push cup in a scooping motion, into vagina. Once inside, the cup will open & create an airtight seal to collect blood.
Run your finger around the side of the cup to check & gently push it up if its too low. Now you are good to go!

Removing:
Feel for the base of the cup and pinch to release the suction. Slowly pull it out, keeping the cup level. Dump the contents into the toilet, wash the cup and reinsert.
Hold on to the stem & squeeze your muscles to help push the cup down, giving you a better grip on the cup base.

Cup care:
Boil your cup before and after use for 5min to disinfect. In between uses, just rinse with water. Use unscented soap if you prefer.

Tips:
Trim the stem if you need! Remove a little at a time until its comfortable.
If the cup isn't creating a good seal, it may leak even if its less than half full. Try a different fold or position when inserting.

LOVE, PERIOD. Menstrual Cup

Have I mentioned that the easiest place to start your eco-lifestyle is from the bathroom? The focus on sustainability in the recent years have brought about the resurgence of reusable safety razors. Yeah!

Mostly made from plastics, disposables cannot or are extremely difficult to recycle. Many end up in landfill and will still be there in 100 years. The Clean Shave Safety Razor, along with the double edge razor blades are stainless steel and can easily be recycled. Way more eco-friendly and less impact to the environment.

Although disposable razors are extremely convenient, they can only cope with limited use (and hair). Blades in disposable razors become dull after a couple of uses, increases friction, tug on your hair and pull at your skin - meaning you’re more likely to get razor burn or irritation. Ouch.

The aggressiveness of a safety razor is defined by how much of the blade is exposed between the safety razor head and cap, which also determines how much of the blade is visible. The more exposed the blade, the more aggressive the shave will be.

If you have coarse facial hair, you'll need a more aggressive razor. Turn the dial on the adjustable safety razor and start at a bigger number (6 - most aggressive), working your way down to a clean shave. If you're a beginner, a mild, non-aggressive razor is the best option. Start at the mid-point (3) and work your way down. 

A safety razor is meant to be used over and over again, lasting you a lifetime. Double-edge blades however, will depend on how often you shave, the size of the surface area, as well as care and maintenance. As a guide, change your blades after 5-10 shaves. Only blades. Not razors!

Now compare that to disposable razors, which have a shelf life of 5-7 uses... and you keep buying and disposing, buying and disposing. Shave off your plastic waste with our stainless steel safety razors and save money at the same time.

Figure out your natural direction of hair growth on the different areas of your body. 
Dampen your skin with warm water, then lather up to soften your hair and skin. This helps to gives a smoother and more comfortable shave, as the hairs are more easily removed. Pair its use with our Hairy Secrets Shaving Bar to help the blade glide across the skin, minimising irritation.

Hold the razor at an angle against the skin - lightly rock the blade against your skin until you feel it lift the hair.  Place minimal pressure on the skin and hold the double-edge razor with a light and controlled grip.

Shave along the direction of the grain. Take your time by using slow, short strokes with each pass to prevent nicks and cuts.

Rinse your skin with fresh cool water to remove any soap and hair. Gently pat your skin dry with a clean cloth before applying a balm, lotion or moisturiser to sooth your skin.

THE CLEAN SHAVE Safety Razor

It frustrates me how cling wraps are so flimsy, clings to itself but not where its suppose to and I can only use it once. Once! And it takes another 450 years to decompose. So someone recommended silicone covers. They are great because they are reusable but they don't fit all half the time. You need the right size cover for the right size bowl.

FOR DIRTY BODIES Soap Bar

The world of skincare is... confusing. And time consuming. Mostly confusing. For me at least.

I was told that a mask works best after cleansing and even better after a scrub. As if that's not enough, first apply a soft mask which hydrates, soothes, and calms skin before a clay or mud mask, that absorbs impurities and excess oil and clarifies. The different types of masks.... omg. Ain't nobody got time for that!

This Kopi-Oh! Facial Mask (and scrub) allows busy people like you and me to slough away dead skin cells, detox and nourish our skin for a radiant, glowing complexion, all at once! Weekly beauty regime, settled.

The ingredients in this tiny bottle help reduce inflammation, improves blood flow and circulation, exfoliates and contain antioxidants to promote new skin cell growth. Honey has the ability to absorb and retain moisture and is prized for its antibacterial properties. Bentonite clay aids in removing toxins, absorbing oils and dirt from the skin.
