Have I mentioned that the easiest place to start your eco-lifestyle is from the bathroom? The focus on sustainability in the recent years have brought about the resurgence of reusable safety razors. Yeah!

Mostly made from plastics, disposables cannot or are extremely difficult to recycle. Many end up in landfill and will still be there in 100 years. The Clean Shave Safety Razor, along with the double edge razor blades are stainless steel and can easily be recycled. Way more eco-friendly and less impact to the environment.

Although disposable razors are extremely convenient, they can only cope with limited use (and hair). Blades in disposable razors become dull after a couple of uses, increases friction, tug on your hair and pull at your skin - meaning you’re more likely to get razor burn or irritation. Ouch.

Double-edge blades of safety razor are much sharper, designed to remove hair with one pass of the razor. This will naturally reducing the chance of razor burn, ingrown hairs and irritation. #happyskin

The aggressiveness of a safety razor is defined by how much of the blade is exposed between the safety razor head and cap, which also determines how much of the blade is visible. The more exposed the blade, the more aggressive the shave will be.

If you have coarse facial hair, you'll need a more aggressive razor. Turn the dial on the adjustable safety razor and start at a bigger number (6 - most aggressive), working your way down to a clean shave. If you're a beginner, a mild, non-aggressive razor is the best option. Start at the mid-point (3) and work your way down. 

A safety razor is meant to be used over and over again, lasting you a lifetime. Double-edge blades however, will depend on how often you shave, the size of the surface area, as well as care and maintenance. As a guide, change your blades after 5-10 shaves. Only blades. Not razors!

Figure out your natural direction of hair growth on the different areas of your body. 
Dampen your skin with warm water, then lather up to soften your hair and skin. This helps to gives a smoother and more comfortable shave, as the hairs are more easily removed. Pair its use with our Hairy Secrets Shaving Bar to help the blade glide across the skin, minimising irritation.

Hold the razor at an angle against the skin - lightly rock the blade against your skin until you feel it lift the hair.  Place minimal pressure on the skin and hold the double-edge razor with a light and controlled grip.

Shave along the direction of the grain. Take your time by using slow, short strokes with each pass to prevent nicks and cuts.

Rinse your skin with fresh cool water to remove any soap and hair. Gently pat your skin dry with a clean cloth before applying a balm, lotion or moisturiser to sooth your skin.
